Arriving

Edinburgh Airport lies just 8 miles west of the city centre, and it is extremely easy to get to and from as there is an express bus in operation 24-hours a day, seven days a week, as well as a frequent LRT service. Both run from Waverley Bridge, near the train station, to Haymarket then on to the airport and return, and the journey takes approximately 35 minutes. The cost of a ticket is approximately £3.40 single and £5 return. Taxis are available from the designated rank outside the UK arrivals hall - the price to the city centre is around £15.

Getting Around

Edinburgh is very accessible and easy to get around. By foot is the best way, as most of the popular tourist attractions are all close to hand. The open-topped bus tours are a great way to familiarise yourself with the city, and you can hop on and off as you please. These leave from Waverley Bridge.. Edinburgh has two main train stations, Waverley, just off Princess Street, and Haymarket in the west end. Both provide excellent rail liks to the rest of Scotland as well as south of the border. Glasgow can be reached in just under one hour. Buses are another option for getting around, they are frequent, cheap and cover the whole of the city.
